AC EV Charger Sourcing: What the 2026 Market Data Actually Tells You

AC EV Charger Sourcing: What the 2026 Market Data Actually Tells You

If you’re sourcing AC EV chargers for Europe or North America, you’ve probably noticed: the hardware itself is becoming standardized. What actually differentiates suppliers now is reliability, certifications, and real manufacturing depth.

We spend a lot of time tracking the numbers. Here’s what the 2026 data looks like.

By the end of May 2026, China’s total charging connectors reached 22.5 million – up 44.9% year-over-year. Public AC connectors alone hit 3.2 million. The global AC EV charger market was valued at roughly $1.7 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow to $6.8 billion by 2032, at a 21.9% annual rate. Asia-Pacific accounts for about 58% of that, with Europe at 22% and North America at 18%.

But here’s what the numbers don’t tell you: the growth is not evenly distributed. Over the last 18 months, we’ve seen a clear shift in what European distributors actually ask for. OCPP compatibility used to be a nice-to-have. Now it’s a deal-breaker. One distributor we worked with in Germany put it bluntly: “We tried three Chinese suppliers before you. Yours is the first that sends test reports without us asking.”

That stuck with me. Because in a market this big, the real question isn’t “who can make a charger?” – it’s “who can make it reliably, at scale, with full traceability?”

Who are the major players?

Globally, Star Charge, BYD, and Webasto hold the top spots, together accounting for about 37% of the global AC charger market. In China, Star Charge leads the AC segment, followed by TELD and State Grid’s affiliated units. There’s no shortage of capacity.

But for international buyers – distributors, CPOs, and brands looking for OEM partners – the challenge isn’t finding a supplier. It’s finding one that actually does what they claim.

That’s where we’re different.

We’re Zhuzhou Zopoise Technology. We build AC EV chargers – portable, wallbox, and custom – from our own factory. We don’t subcontract. We don’t trade. We make.

Three things set us apart, and they’re all verifiable:

First, real QC, not slogans. We check incoming materials. We monitor every step on the production line. And we test every finished unit before it’s packed. Three checkpoints, no shortcuts. Our 2,000-square-meter lab runs proper testing gear – not just for show.

Second, engineering that lives on the floor. Most of our R&D team has over 15 years in power electronics. They’re not locked in an office. They’re on the production floor, side by side with QC, asking “how can we make this better?” That’s how we keep quality consistent from unit one to unit one thousand.

Third, real OEM/ODM flexibility. Hardware design, software integration, white label, SKD, CKD – all in-house. Our chargers support OCPP 1.6 (upgradable to 2.0). They plug into your CPO platform without extra hardware. Straightforward. Reliable.

We’ve worked with distributors, wholesalers, CPOs, and brands that wanted something different – not just a product, but a partner who understands what it takes to get from idea to market.

The Chinese AC charger market is enormous. That’s not news. What’s news is that the bar for quality, certification, and transparency has gone up. And that shift plays to our strengths.

So if you’re looking at China for your next AC charger project – and you want a factory that actually opens its doors – let’s talk. We’re ready when you are.
