The shell installed 79 charged electric vehicles on the main road between British Columbia and Ontario

July 14, 2022

Shell Canada announced that it would expand its electric vehicle charging network nationwide.

Shell Energy announced on Wednesday that by the end of this year, 79 shell fast charging stations will be installed in 37 retail stores on the main road between British Columbia and Ontario.

Shell Canada currently has 25 charging stations in Canada, but its parent company is investing in electric vehicle infrastructure worldwide to achieve zero emissions by 2050.

Kent Martin, CEO of shell mobile Canada, said, "our goals are very ambitious, and we really want to accelerate change in Canada and globally.".

"In Canada, we plan to install more than 500 chargers worldwide by 2025, and it is expected to exceed 1million by 2030.

Expanding shell's electric vehicle infrastructure network is part of its goal to become a leading electric vehicle manufacturer. Shell's renewable energy business is growing, covering almost all grid stages from power generation to storage and distribution.

Martin said that the actual growth of electric vehicle demand in the next few years will vary from state to state and will affect government incentives and other factors.
