How a Hong Kong Operator Switched from Schneider to Zopoise for Commercial OCPP AC EV Chargers

The Challenge: Finding a Flexible Commercial EV Charger OEM Partner

Before 2024, a Hong Kong–based EV charging operator had been using Schneider wall-mounted commercial chargers across their projects. The hardware was reliable, but they needed something more: an alternative commercial EV charger OEM partner who could offer manufacturing flexibility, shorter lead times, and a direct line to the engineering factory.

They found us at CPSE 2024 in Shenzhen.

What caught their attention wasn’t a sales pitch. It was a simple technical fact: our commercial AC EV chargers communicate via OCPP 1.6J natively. That meant they could connect directly to the operator’s existing central management platform — no expensive external gateways, no complex protocol converters.

For an operator managing government tenders and high-profile commercial property installations — typically around 200 units per project — downtime and compatibility issues were not an option.

From Exhibition to First Order: Smooth OCPP Integration

After the show, things moved quickly. The client had their own CPMS platform and a capable technical team, so OCPP 1.6J integration/ configuration test went remarkably smoothly.

Our engineering team worked closely with theirs to:

  • Confirm exact technical specifications

  • Run remote testing and firmware debugging sessions

  • Deploy initial validation sample units

Within 2 months, the first trial order moved into regular production.

Results: Value and Scalability

Over a two-year partnership, we’ve supported multiple deployment phases with this operator, totaling nearly USD 800,000 in cooperation value. To match evolving on-site requirements, we’ve deployed several OTA firmware upgrades to keep their charging network stable.

Two models have led the volume:

  • ZB09-SOCKET version — the primary socket-type type 2 model for flexible commercial parking installations

  • ZB13-E007K — the secondary high-volume model for fleet and commercial spaces

To date, Zopoise has supplied over 6,000 AC EV chargers to this client.

By optimizing procurement costs compared to their previous tier-1 brand supplier, we helped this operator cut costs by over 18% — creating more room for profit — while maintaining strict quality standards, certifications, and full OCPP compliance.

Since the client sells under their own brand, they needed their own CE and TUV certificates. We helped them obtain derived certificates based on our existing approvals — so their branded products meet EU requirements without the cost and time of starting certification from zero.

Why This Partnership Works

Direct platform compatibility. The client’s engineering team used our native OCPP implementation to eliminate integration bottlenecks. Testing and parameter verification were handled entirely via remote API connection.

Clear technical requirements. The operator knew exactly what they needed to replace their previous hardware. They wanted an EV charger manufacturer that could match tier-1 specs while offering more competitive commercial terms.

Long-term engineering support. We treated the initial trial order as a strategic commitment. From parameter confirmation to post-sale OTA firmware updates, our factory stayed actively involved.

Reliable Hardware for Commercial Infrastructure

The ZB09-SOCKET Type 2 and ZB13 are built for commercial environments where uptime matters. If you’re managing government tenders, fleet operations, or commercial property charging networks and need an experienced EV charger OEM/ODM manufacturer, contact us.
